CASTROL Aircol SR 46
Air Compressor Oils
Aircol SR 46 is suitable for use in oil flooded rotary screw compressors operating under extreme climatic conditions, harsh environments and severe operating conditions where air discharge temperatures above 100 °C are experienced.
The Aircol SR product line can be used for extended drain intervals up to 8000 hours when the compressor unit is operating at normal conditions and air discharge temeprature does not exceed 100 °C. Normal conditions are defined by ISO 6743-3:2003 and you can find them below.
Aircol SR 46 has very low deposit forming tendency, so it extends service life of filters and separators.
The synthetic PAO (polyalphaolefin) base oil ensures good compatibility with seals and mineral oil based lubricants, allowing changeover to Aircol SR without compatibility issues.
Performance claims and approvals:
DIN 51506 - VDL
ISO 6743/3 - DAG, DAH és DAJ (for rotary air compressors)
Atlas Copco (8000 hour oil)
Kaeser
Typical characteristics:
Kinematic viscosity at 40 °C (104 °F): 46 mm2/sec - ISO VG 46
Kinematic viscosity at 100 °C (212 °F): 7.8 mm2/sec
Viscosity index: 137
Flash point, open cup: 264 °C
RPVOT, ASTM D2272: 3000 minutes
Aircol SR 46 can be used for either normal or severe duty lubrication of air compressors, as defined by ISO 6743.
Normal duty is described as:
- Discharge temperatures: ≤165°C
- Differential pressures: ≤2.5 MPa (25 bar)
- Discharge pressures: ≤7.0 MPa (70 bar)
Severe Duty is described as:
- Discharge temperatures: >165°C
- Differential pressures: >2.5 MPa (25 bar)
- Discharge pressures: >7.0 MPa (70 bar)
