CASTROL Optileb 2 Sil
Industrial Greases and Pastes
Optileb 2 SIL is a physiologically safe grease based on silicone which conforms NSF H1 regulation.
It is odourless and tasteless, and withstands even steam cleaning. Optileb 2 SIL has good resistance to disinfectants and detergents.
Due to its base material this grease is especially suited for the lubrication of EPDM materials (ethylene-propylene-diene rubber) in applications in the food and pharmaceutical industries where an incidental contact between the lubricant and the product might occur.
Typical applications are beverage fittings, other filling devices, sleeves and EPDM seals.
It can be applied between -30 °C and +150 °C.
Thickener type: PTFE (teflon)
Base oil type: silicone oil
Base oil viscosity at 40 °C: 1200 mm2/sec
Unworked penetration, ISO 2137: 275 (0.1 mm)
Oil separation, 168 hours at 40 °C: 1.5 % wt
Dropping point: 244 °C (471.2 °F)
Optileb 2 SIL was previously called Castrol Optisil LEB 2, its name was changed in 2015.
