CASTROL Syntilo 9918
Soluble Metalworking Fluids
Syntilo 9918 is a pH-neutral, universal synthetic coolant for a wide range of metalworking applications.
Syntilo 9918 is recommended for grinding, honing, milling, turning, boring, drilling, and light tapping on ferrous and aluminium alloys.
This product is free from formaldehyde releasing biocides, but it contains boron which improves its stability and corrosion preventive ability.
Neutral pH helps to avoid stains on the surface of the aluminium and promotes strong operator acceptance.
This is a synthetic coolant, therefore it rejects the tramp oil to its surface, so it becomes easy to remove.
Recommended concentrations:
Grinding: 4 - 6 %
Milling, turning, general machining: 5 - 7 %
Reaming and drilling: 6 - 8 %
Refractometer factor: 1.7
Water hardness compatibility: 0 - 400 ppm CaCO₃ (0 - 22 °dH)
Mineral oil content: 0 %
Appearance of the solution: transparent
pH at 3% dilution: 7.6
Note: It is important to attentively check sealings after you replace a previously used mineral oil containing coolant with a fully synthetic type, because sealings that absorbed oil can be damaged by the oil outwash effect of the synthetic fluid.
